Whether cooling lubricant emulsions, oils or aqueous solutions – the quality of process fluids in the chemicals or metal-working industries is crucial for the efficiency of the processes. Since such working fluids get heavily contaminated during operations like cutting and honing or the removal of lacquers and varnishes, they must be filtered regularly. This ensures that they can remain in the process longer, thus avoiding the expense of disposal and replenishment costs. Filtration is also necessary for process effluents, which – contaminated with lacquer particles, metal dust or the like – must be professionally disposed of. In both cases, the demands on the quality of filtration are very high. The usual solution so far has been an expensive combination of edge chip filter, magnetic separator and paper filter. With the compact solution called Maxflow, presented for the first time at the Achema 2006 by GKD – Gebr. Kufferath AG, this is now a thing of the past. Maxflow combines the complete filtration process in a single unit –from the feed of the contaminated fluid through the filtration process itself to the production of clean filtrate and disposal of the residue in the form of briquettes.
