The Architect@Work fair has traditionally focused on the presentation of new and innovative products. The metal mesh roller shutters and doors from GKD are suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications and set new standards with their sophisticated appearance and robust design. At up to eight metres wide and with a maximum height of five metres, the system can be individually tailored to each application. An optimised lateral guide also guarantees easy and quiet opening and closing. The fabric-typical transparency grants views of the rooms behind the shutters. At the same time, the transparent and air-permeable mesh ensures optimum comfort in the areas separated from one another. It is even possible to select the degree of transparency of the woven dividers. Three different types of mesh are available for this: Lago, Sambesi and Tigris.
The famous W Amsterdam hotel was one of the first adopters of this solution. The Duchess restaurant, which is integrated into the hotel, delights its guests with Nouveau-Niçoise cuisine. The dining room is located directly alongside an art exhibition. To ensure that the transition was both stylish and secure, a roller shutter system from GKD was installed in the hotel, which is one of the oldest in Amsterdam. The graceful design blends in harmoniously with the elegant atmosphere of the restaurant. It offers views of the artworks in the neighbouring area, while still providing protection from unauthorised and uncontrolled access. Visitors to the Architect@Work event in Istanbul can see this revolutionary new system’s huge range of applications for themselves.
